Galen E. Seuser, 92, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Galen E. Seuser will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Philip Peters and Marilyn Peters, associate in ministry, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Veterans Organizations. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Galen died on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, on his 92nd birthday, at Thorne Crest North Health Care Wing.

Galen was born in Gordonsville on April 23, 1910, the son of A. G. and Grace Seuser. His family moved to Winnebago, Minn., in 1923 and then to Albert Lea in 1925. On Feb. 23, 1943, he was united in marriage with Olga Turnvold at Ft. Warren, Wyo.

He was employed at Queen Stove Works in Albert Lea until World War II. He then spent five years in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Sergeant, serving in New Guinea and the southern Philippines, He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, three overseas bars, American Defense service medal, the American Theater Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, and the World War II victory Medal. After his military service he returned to Albert Lea and worked for Queen Stove Works as a gas welder for 32 years.

He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

His happiest days were spent traveling with his wife, golfing, bowling and playing pool,

Galen is survived by his brother, Duane; and two sisters: Lois Meyers and Lorna Bothof. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friend and golfing buddy, Darrell Soper and his wife, Barbara.

Galen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olga, in 1996; three brothers: Harold, Harley and George; and two sisters: Leona Seuser and Louise Peterson.
