Irma Berggren Madison, age 80, formerly of Donnelly, Minn., died Friday, April 19, 2002.
Irma, the daughter of Jens Peter Ebert and Inez Edna Emal, was born in Minden, Neb., on July 20, 1921, and died at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester at the age of 80 years.
She grew up in central Nebraska and graduated from Marquette, Neb., High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Berggren on December 23,1942. Don was killed in action on Luzon on May 24,1945.
Irma was united in marriage to Edward Joseph Madison on Oct. 1, 1946, at Laverne, Minn. They lived at Donnelly, Minn., where Ed owned and operated a service station and garage. They retired to Aurora, Neb., in July 1991. Ed passed away on Feb. 5, 1996. Since that time, Irma had the opportunity to spend two years in Bismarck, N.D., and four years in Albert Lea, at Bancroft Creek Estates. She will be remembered for her poetry and writings.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brother, Dale Ebert; and sisters: Mildred Noble, Edna PaImberg, Donnice Kissel, Linnea Green, Marian Blaylock and Norma Rae McKeehan.
Irma is survived by her three children, sons: Bill Madison of Bismarck, N.D., and Dale Berggren and his wife Lois of Wilmington, N.C., and a daughter, Ina Jo Meyer and her husband Darryl of Albert Lea; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Zelda Bush and her husband Bill of Lincoln, Neb.; brother-in-law, John Green of Aurora, Neb.; sister-in-law, Ida Lawson of Morris; brother-in-law, Elmer Madison of Chokio; an uncle, Orval Emal; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora, Neb., on Monday, April 29. A Memorial will be held at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea on Friday, April 26. Interment will be in the Richland Cemetery near Marquette, Neb.
