The Albert Lea Art Center will host the seventh- through 12th-grade junior/ senior high art exhibit in its galleries April 5-27. Hours are from noon-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays. The open house reception will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 7. Refreshments will be served. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to visit the exhibit and open house.

Friday, April 5
– Senior Resources of Freeborn County hosts its &uot;Something For Everyone Sale&uot; from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at Skyline Mall. Coffee, juice and baked goodies will be available for a freewill offering from 9-11 a.m. Net proceeds will be used to assist in maintaining programs and services for area seniors through the programs of Transportation, Chore, Senior Services, RSVP and Peer Counseling.
– Regal Liquor hosts the second annual Charity Wine Tasting from 6-9 p.m. at the Guesthouse Inn. There will be an hors d’ouvres buffet, silent auction and complimentary wine glass while supplies last. Cost is $10 per person in advance or $15 per person at the door. The event is sponsored by Regal Liquor, the Albert Lea Eagles Club and Hy-Vee. Proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Minnesota.
– The Albert Lea Community Theatre production of &uot;To Kill A Mockingbird&uot; will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at the Albert Lea Civic Theatre. For tickets, call the box office at 377-4371.

Saturday, April 6
– A fund-raiser for Brittany Meuser, who has been selected to participate in the People to People Student Ambassador Program, will be held from 9 a.m.-noon at the Albert Lea United Methodist Church. There will be a silent auction and bake sale as well as a car wash. Contact Paula Adams at 377-1880 or Debra Meuser at 377-3421 if you’d like to donate an item for the silent auction. The event is sponsored by the United Methodist Church.

– The Honda Gold Wing Road Riders will be on display at Northbridge Mall from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
– Dancers from the Joyce Matthies Dance Centre are presenting their first Young Choreographer Show at 2 p.m. at Brookside Education Center. Tickets are available at the door.
– Taco Night, a fund-raiser for Emmons Borderfest, will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the Emmons American Legion. Soft or hard shell tacos sell two for $3 and nachos with cheese for $1.50. The public is welcome.

Sunday, April 7
– The Walters Volunteer Fire Department will host the Ultimate Firefighters Feast from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Walters Fire Hall. The breakfast features made-to-order omelets, eggs, pancakes, French toast, sausage and toad in the hole. Matching funds will be provided by Modern Woodmen of America and allocated funds from AAL-LB Branch 6461. Proceeds will help purchase an automated defibrillator.
– A pancake breakfast to help with the upkeep of the Brick Hall, which is located on the National Register of Historic Places, will be held from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Glenville American Legion restaurant. Cost is $4 for adults, $2 for children 5-12, and those 4 and under eat free. There will also be a bicycle drawing for children, age 0-15, who attend, as well as a Czech bake sale.

– The Children’s House Montessori Preschool, 1424 W. Main St., will host its annual open house from 2-4 p.m. Children’s House parents and staff welcome the public, as well as parents of young children. Enrollment applications for the fall of 2002 will be available at the open house. There are openings in the afternoon session for children between 2 1/2 and 4 years of age. The goal of Montessori education is to help children develop to their fullest potential in all areas: physical, emotional, social and cognitive. Each child’s unique spirit is nurtured in an environment that encourages the growth of self-esteem, respect for others, initiative, self-expression, concentration, cooperation and a love of learning.
– Zion Lutheran Church’s Praise Team will present a celebration of praise beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the church, 924 Bridge Ave. A freewill offering will be received and will go toward a new digital keyboard.
– The Hennepin Chime will be presented in concert at 4 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 702 Hwy. 69 S., as part of the Robert L. Myers Art Series. The community is invited to attend. There is no charge for admission, however, a free will offering will be received. The Hennepin Chime from Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis is known as one of the top handbell ensembles in the churches of Minnesota.
