Dean L. Johnson, 68, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Dean L. Johnson, age 68, of Albert Lea, were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 3, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Rev. Meg Sauder officiated. Visitation was at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Thursday, May 2, from 5-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Dean died suddenly on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at his home in Albert Lea.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1934, the son of Vernon and Marie (Buendorf) Johnson in Walters. He married Joan &uot;Dolly&uot; Rathai on Nov. 22, 1958, in Wells.

Dean grew up in Wells and graduated from Wells High School, the class of 1952. He was in the United States Marine Corps for three years. He worked as a salesman for Wilson’s in Albert Lea, Nordaas American Homes, IDS, and currently worked for Life Investors Insurance Company. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, working In his yard, and especially being with his family.

He is survived by: Wife, Joan &uot;Dolly&uot; Johnson of Albert Lea; son, Callen and his wife Barb Johnson of Albert Lea; daughter, Laurie and husband Mike Remakel of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Isaac, Eric, Randi, Colton and Sammy Jo; parents: Vernon and Marie Johnson of Wells; sister, Patricia and husband Bob Schumacher of Bloomington, Minn.; three brothers: Barry Johnson and special friend Marlene of Mankato, Stuart Johnson and special friend Val of Wells, and Kent and wife Jackie Johnson of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, DaIe V. Johnson; niece, Traci Johnson; two brothers-in-law: Roger Rathai and Leo Rathai; and father- and mother-in-law: Brownie and Agnes Rathai.
