Forest City sweeps NIC golf tourney

LAKE MILLS, Iowa &045; Forest City won the boys’ and girls’ championships in the North Iowa Conference golf tournament at Rice Lake Town and Country Club Monday.

The Lake Mills boys were second with 310 strokes for 18 holes, three strokes behind Forest City. Following were Belmond-Klemme with 318, Northwood-Kensett 336, Osage 338, Garner-Hayfield 346, West Hancock 366 and North Iowa 385.

Scoring for the Bulldogs: Lucas Kruescher 76, Derek Richards 78, Dan Helgeson 78, Kai Tsuruta 78.

Northwood-Kensett scoring: Lee Nelson 75, Landon Perkins 86, Mitch Hanson 86, Joey Bedford 89, Brandon Weisert 89.

Kruescher, Tsuruta, Helgeson, Richards and Nelson are all-conference.

The medalist was Mike Havens of B-K with a 71.

Forest City’s girls won with 387, followed by Belmond-Klemme with 403, Garner-Hayfield 404, Lake Mills 406, Northwood-Kensett 416, West Hancock 433, Osage 448 and North Iowa 488.

Lake Mills scoring: Ashley Pederson 98, Jessica Grotewold 100, Leah Iverson 101, Leigh Johnson 107, Katie Renshaw 107.

Northwood-Kensett scoring: Hailee Rustad 85, Mary Bloomingdale 105, Lisa Foley 109, Jessie Johnson 117.

Kendra Hanson of Forest City was the medalist with an 82. Rustad, Pederson and Grotewold were also all-conference.
