G-E track girls fifth, boys eighth at Maple River

MAPLETON &045; The Glenville-Emmons track and field teams competed in the eight-team Maple River Invitational Monday.

The girls finished fifth while the boys were last.

Leann Chessmore led the girls, winning the triple jump while setting a new school record. She was fifth in the shot put.

Chessmore’s sister, Leslie Harlan, won the discus and took second in the shot put. Heidi Hansen placed third in the 400 meters. Alisa Rayman was fifth in the triple jump. Megan Bjorklund, Chessmore, Sara Greibrok and Rayman were third in the 4×100 relay.

Maurice Chessmore was the lone scorer for the boys. He was third in the shot put, fourth in the discus and sixth in the 800.

&uot;It’s always fun to see kids work hard and break school records,&uot; said Wolverines coach Mike Kropp. &uot;The kids continue to improve their performances.&uot;

The Wolverines travel to Wells for the True Team section meet Thursday.
