Helene O. Morgensen, 92, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Helene O. Morgensen, age 92, of St. John’s Lutheran Home, will be held on Wednesday, May 22, at 1 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Chaplain Monrad Mandsager will officiate. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Helene died on Saturday, May 18, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Helene O. Morgensen was born on Nov. 30, 1909, in Adams, the daughter of Louie and Anna (Wiste) Asper. After her education, Helene worked as a bank teller for 43 continuous years, starting at Farmers State Bank in Adams and then for 31 years at the Freeborn National Bank in Albert Lea, retiring in 1972. On June 22, 1957, she was united in marriage to John W. Morgensen in Chatfield, Minn. Helene enjoyed painting and many different crafts. Following her retirement, Helene lived in Meza, Ariz., for eight years before returning to Albert Lea. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Helene is survived by many nieces and nephews, including her niece, Dawn Freeman, of Albert Lea.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and siblings: Arnold Asper, Lloyd Asper and Mrs. Sevene (Virgil) Miller.
