Clarine L. Pence, 78, Geneva

The funeral for Clarine L. Pence of Geneva will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Community Lutheran Church, Geneva. The Rev. Joel Xavier will officiate. Interment will be in the Geneva Cemetery, Geneva. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Clarine died June 9, 2002, at her home in Geneva. She was 78 years old.

Clarine was born in Manchester on Oct. 3, 1923, the daughter of Gislie and Gyda (Morreim) Ferguson, She graduated from Freeborn High School. Clarine was married to Mike Heilman and to this marriage three sons were born: Terry, Tim and Todd. They had lived in New Richland and then moved to Albert Lea in 1954. Mike died in 1966. In 1974, she married Bennie Pence at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Albert Lea until 1978 when they moved to Geneva. She had been a member of the First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, until transferring to Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. Clarine had worked at Wallaces and Wilsons in Albert Lea.

Clarine used to enjoy crocheting, bowling and golfing. She most recently had been rosemaling, painting, and making crafts.

Clarine is survived by her husband, Bennie Pence of Geneva; sons: Terry Heilman and wife Julie of Northfield, and Tim Heilman and wife Lezlie of Waseca; five grandchildren: Michael Heilman of Minneapolis, Michelle Heilman of Dallas, Texas, Chad Heilman of Austin, Texas, Heidi and her husband John Gamez of Houston, Texas, and Jessica Heilman of Wells; great-grandchildren: Haley Heilman, Hanna Heilman, Lindsey, Timmy and Lauren Gamez, and Makayla Heilman; stepchildren: Larry Pence and wife Vicki and family of Albert Lea,

Steve Pence and wife Sue and family of Jacksonville, Fla., Neil Pence and wife Ellen and family of Northfield, and Chuck Pence and wife Nancy and family of Owatonna; sister, Helen Eastvold of Hartland; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Clarine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mike; and son, Todd.
