ROCHESTER &045; What happened to last year’s Rochester Babe Ruth baseball team that reached the national tournament?
It’s now at the American Legion level, and Albert Lea Post 56 got a first-hand, albeit brief, look Monday night, falling 15-0 to the Rochester Redhhawks at Mayo Field. The game ended after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
&uot;They’re deep,&uot; said Albert Lea coach Matt Trygstad. &uot;They’re probably the best team we’ll face all year.&uot;
Only two Albert Lea players had hits: Derek Goodnature and Matt Bracker. Bracker’s was a double.
The best scoring chance for the visitors was in the third inning, when they left the bases loaded.
Isaiah Parry took the pitching loss.
Albert Lea’s record fell to 1-2 while the Redhawks improved to 3-0.
Post 56 returns to action tonight against Mankato at Franklin Rogers Field. The game will start at 7:15, not 6 p.m. as originally scheduled.
