Melvin ‘Harvey’ Irish, 67, Phoenix, Arizona and Albert Lea

Services will be held for Melvin &uot;Harvey&uot; Irish, age 67, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Albert Lea, at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at East Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Hernes will officiate. Interment will be at the Arago Cemetery in Park Rapids,. Minn.
Harvey passed away at home on Monday, June 3, 2002, with a massive coronary.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1934, in Stewart, Neb., the son of Harold and Marie Irish. They moved to the Park Rapids area where Harvey attended school and then owned and operated Robertson Lumber Co.
While living in Albert Lea, he owned and operated Highland Builders Inc. and was a licensed Realtor for Leland-Dress and Century 21 Real Estate Companies.
Upon moving to Phoenix. Ariz., he began working as a contractor sales rep for Liberty Lumber, worked several years for Payless Cashways, and currently was selling for Ryan Lumber.
After returning to Park Rapids, from time served in the U.S. Army, he married Betty Massey and had three children: Lorri and Robert, now of Phoenix, and Linda of Buffalo, Wyo., who all survive him.
In May of 1989 he married Judy Kay Dammen, formerly of Albert Lea, and had one daughter, Shanna Renea, who is still at home in Phoenix.
Also surviving him are one sister, Karen Johnson of Ottertail, Minn., nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one great-nephew, and one great-niece.
Harvey was a member of the Masonic Temple and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department.
