Raymond D. Samudio, 62, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Raymond D. Samudio of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 16, from 5-7 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A scripture prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Theodore Cemetery.

Mr. Samudio died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis. He was 62 years of age.

Raymond was born on April 26, 1940, in Waseca, the son of Joe P. and Rita (Martinez) Samudio Sr. Ray moved with his family to Albert Lea in 1944 and he started school at St. Theodore’s. He then attended Ramsey School and was active in Cub Scouts. Ray graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1958.

Ray was very active in school activities, including sports where he played basketball and football, and music where he played the coronet.

Ray was a member of St. Theodore Catholic church and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Turkey. Raymond became disabled in the service.

Ray was a very kind and caring person and had many friends in his lifetime, he loved his cars and enjoyed traveling all over the country visiting relatives.

Raymond is survived by one sister and three brothers: Anita Brennan and her husband Jerry of Rochester, Anthony and his wife Garnette of Albert Lea,

George and his wife Alberta of Toledo, Ohio, and Harvey of New Richland. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Rose Samudio of Toledo, Ohio; brother-in-law, Ben Lara of Modesto, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rita Samudio Sr.; brother, Joe Samudio Jr.; sisters: Esther Lara and Lucy Samudio; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Samudio.

Raymond will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
