Funeral services for Darlene C. Schulz, age 66, of Conger, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger. The Rev. William Greaver officiated. Interment will be in the Conger Cemetery. Visitation was at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Darlene died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Darlene Carolyn Schulz was born Jan. 22, 1936, to Bert Silias and Luella Josephine (Ellertson) Hamson in Sealy Township. She graduated from Kiester High School. On Feb. 16, 1957, Darlene was united in marriage to Jerold Schulz at Bricelyn Lutheran Church. She was a resident of Conger living in the home she and Jerry built in 1971. Darlene was a cook at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was a lifelong resident of Minnesota and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include children: Kevin Schulz and wife Brenda of Alpharetta, Ga., Carrie Hintz and husband Bill of Alden, Tami Politz and husband Todd of Alden, and Deborah Moreno and husband Jeff of Woodbury, Minn.; grandchildren: Samanatha, Dustin, and Andrew Schulz, Sam and Tyler Hintz, Tiffany and Vanessa Politz, and Brittany and Zachary Moreno; and brothers: Omar Hamson of Longview, Wash., Franklin Hamson of Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth Hamson of Cochranville, Pa., Dean Hamson of Redding, Calif., and Dennis Hamson of Albert Lea.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Luella Ellertson; her husband, Jerold Schulz; and sister and brother, Pearl and Darwin Hamson, both in infancy.
