Duane R. Eastman, 61, of 1324 N. Virginia, Mason City, Iowa, passed away at the Muse Norris Hospice inpatient unit in Mason City, Thursday, July 4, 2002.
Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 329 E. State St., Mason City with the The Rev. Paul Finger officiating. Interment will follow at the Kensett Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8p.m. at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. and one hour before the service at the church.
His family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Cerro Gordo County American Cancer Society, or to the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City in his memory.
Duane, the youngest son of Vern and Florence (Torgeson) Eastman, was born Nov. 11, 1940 in rural Wells. He attended grade school in rural Walters and high school in Kiester, graduating with the class of 1958.
He married Lois Sorenson at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kiester on Aug. 31,1958.
He was employed at the Alden Co-Op elevator in Alden until 1968, when he started working at Jacob E. Decker & Son in Mason City. In 1976 Duane and his family were transferred to the Decker Plant in Garland, Texas, then in 1979 the family was transferred back to Armour Foods in Mason City, where Duane worked until January of 2002.
Through the years, Duane enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, leather tooling, traveling, antiquing and collecting Joe Camel memorabilia.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lois, of 44 years; and his daughters, Lisa Nordquist and her husband Phil of Dallas, Texas, Lana Beaver and her husband Randy of Mason City, and Lara Arndt and her friend Michael Beem of Denver, Colo. Duane will also be dearly missed by his two grandchildren, Aaron Roy Beaver and Mandi Lee Dunbar; his father, Vern Eastman of Albert Lea; and his brother, Don Eastman and his wife Audrey of Wells.
Duane was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Eastman, and an uncle, Armund Eastman.
