The funeral service for Hildred Marie Sorenson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Community Lutheran Church, Geneva, Minn. The Rev. Linda Gunderson will officiate. Burial will be in Hayward Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.

Hildred died on Thursday, at New Richland Care Center, New Richland, Minn. She was 86-years-old.

Hildred was born on the family farm near Hayward, Minn. on April 28, 1916, the daughter of Peter and Helen (Stoa) Hanson. She attended elementary school in Hayward and was a 1935 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

On Jan. 22, 1937, Hildred was united in marriage with Norris Sorenson in the church parsonage in Hayward, Minn. They farmed several farms in Freeborn County until purchasing their farm near Geneva. They were members of Community Lutheran Church where Hildred had been active in Miriam Circle and taught Sunday school.

Hildred was a member of East Geneva Neighbors Home Extension Group and was a volunteer with RSVP. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, baking, entertaining friends and was especially fond of time spent with her family. Hildred was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Hildred is survived by five children: Norma Plank and her husband, Duane of Winona, Minn., Mary Geiger and her husband, Ron of Lakewood, Colo., Barbara Thomann and her husband, Eugene of Littleton, Colo., Rodney Sorenson and his wife, Peggy of Geneva, Minn., Karen Johnson and her husband, Martin of Ellendale, Minn.; a brother, Palmer Hanson of Austin, Minn.; 15 grandchildren, Lisa Plank Swanson and her husband, William, Lori Plank Meurer and her husband, Michael, Janel Plank Schneider and her husband, Tom, Dale Plank, David Geiger, Micah Geiger and his wife, Angie, Jennifer Geiger, Brian and Kimberly Thomann, Tami, Kristine, and Eric Sorenson, Todd Broitzman, Dean Broitzman and his wife, Lonna, Brian Johnson (step-grandson) and his wife, Lynette; and 10 great-grandchidren, Brittany and Isaiah Meurer, Megan Schneider, Mitchell and Austin Geiger, Samantha and Cole Broitzman and their mother Carolee, Brayden Broitzman, and Madison and Brody Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norris in 1989; an infant son, Ronald; an infant grandson, Kevin Plank; a granddaughter, Ann Broitzman; a brother, Bert Hanson; a sister, Esther Hanson; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Hanson.
