Kids say thanks in special way

The &uot;Thank You&uot; letters that we receive at the museum following the spring school events are one of the real highlights of the year. It is with much anticipation that we open the envelopes from the schools, because we know that we’ll read the notes with smiles and sometimes with wonder at just what the children have absorbed. Many of these notes are just too good to keep to ourselves. I hope you enjoy.
“Dear Volunteers, I had a super time at the Historical Museum. I just wanted to say thanks. Oh yeah, my favorite thing was the waterpump. You really think they got water that way! You’ve got to be kidding! But even though it sounds crazy it was fun learning about it. Well I’ll see you in 3rd grade Bye! Your’s truly, Rachel&uot;
“Dear Valunteers Thank you for telling us about the museum. I learned that they had a dounce hat for when you are not paying attention. My favorite part you showed us adout the old camra I can’t bleave they had to wait for a long time. I liked the barbershop because it had a bathtub. The interesting part was the boys could tack a bath at the barbershop but not the girls. Sincerly, Jessica&uot;
“Dear Vaulunters, Thank you for letting us come to the museum. I learned that people didn’t have digital cameras. My favorite thing was the Water pump. Because it’s difert than Water fountens. Because Water fountens you push a butin and on Water pumps you pump the water out. From, Cody&uot;
“Dear Volunteers, Thak you for showing me the jail it was interesting and for showing me the patey and the outdoor patey. And the washing mashen and the bed. And I learn that the driking fowtin you need to git a bocit and you need to drik out of that. Bout now we just drik out of a watr mosen. From Dakota&uot;
“Dear Museum Volunteer, Thank you for showing us your things. The Barber Shop was the most amazing. The jail was interesting, because not very many people were in jail. The miniature horse was my favorite part. I especially appreciated that you volunteered to be with us. I had a lot of fun. Sincerely, Kayla&uot;
“Dear Volunteer, Thanks for letting us come out there. I lemed that they have a little tub, and everybody had to take a bath in the same water, that lived in that house. And chicken eggs the yolk inside the used for shampoo for the girls. And how to make stuff. By the kitchen there is a picture of ladies the have really small waist. Sincerely, Laura&uot;
“Dear Volunteer, Thank you for letting my classmates and me come out to the museum. It was a lot of fun. I thought it was interesting when the guy in the school house said that when he graduated from high school there was 382 people including him, and only 140 went to college out of 382. Another interesting thing I learned was the mother’s had to get up in the morning and warm up the kitchen for the children. I thought it was very interesting on how things changed from now. Children back then should not have to walk more than two miles to school. Sincerely, Amber&uot;
“Dear Freeborn County Historical Museum Guides, I loved the Marion Ross and Eddie Cochran Exhibit. It was so cool because they are both from Albert Lea. It meant a lot to know they were and are proud of were they are from. I am a major Marion Ross fan, so it was exciting to hear she is coming back here this summer. I can’t wait! She is one of the greatest tv moms ever! I was so interested in the things fans could buy of him (Eddie Cochran). Wow! I wish we could stay longer. Thank you Courtney&uot;
“Dear Volunteer’s, Thank you for the tour at the museum. One thing I learned is the beds were made out of strow back then and our beds now are springs and coten. And I thought they had to go to the bathroom by going to a tree instead of going in a bucket. Sincerely, Timothy&uot;
“Dear Freeborn County Historical Museum Guides, My name is Luis. You may not remember me but I remember you. I just wanted to thank you. Because you took your time to tell us about the historical events and things in the past, to give us a tour, being very kind and to answer all our questions. I think you showed and explained very well was the Blacksmith shop. It was my favorite because I rarely ever get to see someone make an item from iron or metal. It was cool the way he heated it up and harnmer it. Thank you for everything, especially your kindness. Sincerely, Luis”
