Terence R. Harpel, 61, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Terence R. Harpel, 61, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the area servicemen’s organizations. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Terry died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at the Albert Lea Medical Center after a three-month battle with lung cancer.
Terence Robert Harpel was born Dec.24, 1940, to Curtis and Lorraine Harpel. He attended Ellendale and Albert Lea schools, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1958. Terry entered the Air Force in 1959 and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1980 after 21 years of service. Terry saw much of the world serving two tours of duty in the far east, one in Europe, and one in Iceland. In May of 1983 he was united in marriage to Debra L. Underdahl at Trinity Lutheran Church. After his retirement from the service, he worked as a supervisor at Ventura Foods for 19 years, retiring in 2000. Terry then enjoyed working at the Legion and playing cards with his buddies. He also loved hunting and fishing and taking numerous trips around the United States. Terry especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, Hailey and Thomas.
Survivors include his wife Debbie Harpel, of Albert Lea; his daughter, Lori Alexander of Clinton, Ind.; his stepson, David Fynbo and wife Delya and their children Hailey and Thomas; his mother, Lorraine Peterson of Maplewood; and his brothers Larry Harpel and his wife Melanie of Denver, Colo. and Rocky Harpel of Rushford; and special friends Ralph and Barb Gilman of Albert Lea.
Terry’s dad Curtis passed away in December of 1989.
