Weekend Planner: Play finale, lake cruises are on tap

Call it the lull before the storm. With the Freeborn County Fair right around the corner, residents are getting a chance to rest up this weekend and enjoy some things they might have missed due to the last few jam-packed ones.

The final two shows of MFT’s &uot;Guys and Dolls&uot; are Friday and Saturday. The musical features New York gamblers, entertainers and missionaries playing out two days of their hectic lives.

Friday, July 26:

– The Pelican Breeze will hold a Friday night pizza cruise at 6 p.m. Reservations are required. Call (507) 383-2630.

– MFT’s production of &uot;Guys and Dolls&uot; starts at 7:30 p.m. Individual tickets are on sale for $15; contact the box office at 377-4371 to reserve seats.

Saturday, July 27:

– The Albert Lea Farmers’ Market will be held in the parking lot at the corner of Broadway Avenue and Water Street beginning at 9 a.m.

– The Pelican Breeze will hold a public cruise at 2 p.m.

Sunday, July 28:

– The Tones Band will present its weekly free program of live music beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Edgewater Park bandshell. The band’s two-hour set list includes country, ’50s, ’60s and other tunes from throughout the years. The program is sponsored by the Albert Lea Federation of Musicians Local 567 and the city of Albert Lea.
