Marie M. Jensen, 98, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Marie M. Jensen, age 98, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Salem Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Marie died on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002 at St. Johns Lutheran Home.

Marie Margaret Augusta Brewer Jensen was born on March 21, 1904 in Walters, the daughter of James Sanforth and Martha Augusta (Wichman) Brewer. She attended country school and a year of high school in Alden. On Oct. 13, 1928, Marie was married to Curtis G. Jensen at the Mansfield Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Albert Lea. Marie retired in 1968 from Wilson’s where she worked for over 25 years.

Marie was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church where her activities included serving on the altar guild, singing in the choir, the Sew and Tell Organization, the senior citizens group, and church circles.

Survivors include her sons Curtis and his wife Sharon Jensen of Albert Lea; and Russell and his wife Delores Jensen of Prescott, Wis.; daughters Maxine Crane of Albany, N.Y. and Rose Marie Bodeman of Chico, Calif.; son Rodney and his wife Sandy Jensen of Laguna Woods, Calif.; daughter Suzanne and her husband Roger Holty of Albert Lea; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Curtis, her brother Theodore Brewer, and her sister Ida Olson.
