Mayme A. Oliphant, 99, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Mayme A. Oliphant, age 99, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at First Baptist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Clayton Balsley will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Kiester. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mayme died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

Mayme Annette Oliphant was born Oct. 6, 1902, to Arthur and Pearl (Williams) Oliphant in Kiester. She attended Kiester and Albert Lea schools, graduated from Albert Lea High School, and went to college for a year. Mayme was a bookkeeper at Woolworth’s and retired after 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, church circles, ABW Mission Society, and enjoyed playing various sorts of games.

Survivors include her brother, Donald Oliphant of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews: Robert, Norma, Richard, Julie, Dale, Glenn, and Susan.

Mayme was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gladys; brothers: LeRoy and Darrell; and nephew, Roger.
