Richard ‘Dick’ Allis, 64, Worthington

Funeral services for Richard &uot;Dick&uot; Allis, age 64, of Worthington, formerly of Wells, will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, Wells.

Richard died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Regional Hospital in Worthington suddenly following a stroke.

He was born April 7, 1938, the son of Clarence W. “Bob” and Helen B. “Nellie” (O’Rourke) Allis in Minnesota Lake Township, Faribault County. He married

Richard graduated from Wells High School, class of 1956, and the University of Minnesota with a degree in animal husbandry and agronomy. He farmed with his father for one year, then worked for the Federal Land Bank from 1961 to 1989, then worked for Morsen Services and the State Bank of Easton as a certified real estate appraiser. He served on the Board of Directors for Pioneer Public TV. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington. He enjoyed helping his brothers with the farming and hunting in Wyoming with his brothers and father. He also enjoyed holding the babies in the family.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Allis of Worthington; one son, Kurt (wife Marlaine Cox) Allis of Minneapolis; one daughter,: Anne and husband Shah Hilali of Edina; three grandchildren: Sophia, Mia and Ava; his mother, Nellie Allis of Wells; three sisters: Joan (husband John) O’Halloran of LaGrange, Ill., Mary (husband Mark) Brummer of Alden, and Nancy (husband Dan) Wagner of Stillwater; three brothers: Art (wife Nancy) Allis of Wells, Pat (wife Deb) Allis of Wells, and Bill (wife Connie) Allis of Wells; sister-in-law, Mary Ann and husband Pat O’Rourke of Wells; brother-in-law, Paul and wife Karen Schuster of Minnesota Lake; sister-in-law, Suzanne and husband Aaron Cansler of La Crosse, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1991; one son, Paul, in 2000; and brother, Robert, in 1970.
