Ruth Jane Folie, 61, Austin

Ruth Jane Folie, age 61 of Austin, died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2002, at her home in Austin.

She was born April 21, 1941, in Austin, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Miner) Olson. She attended school in Albert Lea, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1960. On June 23, 1962, she was united in marriage to David Folie at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. They made their home in Owatonna for about one year before moving to Austin. She was employed at Country Side Inn and the Holiday Inn in housekeeping and for the past 12 years had worked as a clerk at HyVee. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Austin, where she served on the Altar Guild, WELCA, and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed going to auctions, collecting antiques, family fishing trips, motorcycle touring and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband, David Folie of Austin; two daughters: Lisa (Galen) Berg of Oakland, and Penny (Sean) Gilson of Adams; seven grandchildren: Nathan Erickson, Trevor Erickson, Keisha Berg, McKenna Berg, Chase Gilson, Ramsey Gilson and Dawson Gilson; two sisters: Joyce (Everett) Stundahl of Austin, and Sue (Terry) Smith of Albert Lea; one brother, David (Darla) Olson of Albert Lea; and many other relatives and friends.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Harold Deye officiating. Interment will follow the service in Grandview Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Worlein Funeral Home, Austin, on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 4-8 p.m., and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
