The funeral service for Tilda Jonette (Quam) Dammen of St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26,

at the First Lutheran Church, Glenville. The Rev. Mark Wendland will officiate. Interment will be in the Lakewood Cemetery, Albert Lea. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Tilda died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 98 years old.

Tilda (Quam) Dammen was born Nov. 23, 1903 in Freeborn County, the daughter of Halvor and Gena (Jacobson) Quam. She was baptized at Round Prairie Lutheran Church, Glenville, and confirmed in the Norwegian language at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ryder, N.D. She attended District 65 school in Freeman Township, Freeborn County, as well as Blue Hill School in Ryder, N.D.

Tilda married Olaf G. Dammen on November 7, 1923, at the First Lutheran parsonage in Glenville by the Rev. A. C. Korsrud. They lived on the Dammen family farm until she moved to her home in Glenville in 1964. She was a talented seamstress, gardener, cook and enjoyed crocheting many afghans which are cherished by many of her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and will be missed by all.

Tilda is survived by her two sons: Calvin and his wife Majorie and their son, Michael and his wife Delores, all of Albert Lea, and Robert and his wife Susan of rural Albert Lea, and their children: Keenen (Susie) and their children, Erin, Andrew and Krista, of Chanhassen, Minn., Jayson (Debbie) and their children, Alex and Ashley, of Anthem, Ariz., Carter (Kathleen) and son, Jakob, of Morrison, Colo., Karla (Joe) Vaughan and their children, Grace and Daniel, of Shakopee, and Chris (Gretchen) Patton and their children, Hadley Rose and Gunnar, of Medina, Minn.; brother, Raymond Quam of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.

Tilda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Olaf, in 1948; four brothers: Henry, Orin, Clifford and Orrin in infancy; three sisters: Guyda, Lilly and Grace; and great-grandson, Peter Vaughan, in infancy.
