Truman J. ‘Mike’ Shellen, 74, Wells

Truman J. &uot;Mike&uot; Shellen, age 74, of Wells died on Thursday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, from heart problems. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Rev. Meg Sander will officiate. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Monday at Bruss-Heitoer Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Township, Minn. Military Honors by: Wells Color Guard.
Shellen was born on Sept. 22, 1927 In Walnut Lake Township the son of Truman T. and Grace (Crowell) Shellen. Shellen married Adeline Nehring on April 29, 1948,
in Wells.
Truman lived in the Wells area all of his life. He attended country school and worked for Streator Store Fixtures for many years, retiring in 1992. Prior to that he had worked at Matz Fur Farm. He served in the U.S. Navy from Nov. 3, 1945 to Oct. 21, 1947, and was awarded the Victory Medal.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the Wells American Legion and V.F.W. Posts. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and especially his family.
He is survived by: two sons; Robert (wife Kay) Shellen, Albert Lea, Dean (wife Sue) Shellen, Wells; one daughter: LuAnn (husband Dale) Braun, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren: Craig Shellen, Rachael Shellen, Deanna Shellen, Joseph Braun and Andrew Braun; one daughter-in-law: Rita (husband Jeff) Mover and their children Samuel and Isaac, Albert Lea; two sisters, Alice Kraske of Wells, Ruth Colvin, Mesa Ariz.; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son, Neil H. Shellen and two sisters Pearl and Arlene.
