Building in county slow in August

August building permit reports issued by the City of Albert Lea and Freeborn County show that the highest valuation was reported by the Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office.
The county report shows that 31 building permits with an estimated valuation of $784,943 were issued during August. This increases the estimated totals valuation for the first eight months of the year to $5,713.213.
A total of four new homes and two home additions were listed in the county’s report.
During August the city’s Inspection Department issued 54 building permits with a valuation of $711,951. This increases the total for building permits valuations to $6,660,696 for the first eight months of the year.
At the end of August 2001, the city’s report showed a total of $12,305,101
for building permit valuations.
A permit with a valuation of $169,000 was issued to the City of Albert Lea for a new 76 foot by 123 foot car impoundment building at 108 James Ave. (east of Frank Hall Park).
Alamco Wood Products, 1410 W. Ninth St., was issued a permit with a valuation of $76,000 for the construction of a 30 foot by 100 foot office addition.
Video Update, 416 Bridge Ave., was issued a permit with a valuation of $49,487 for a re-roofing project.
A permit for a new residence in Albert Lea with
a valuation of $120,000 was issued during August. This increases the total for new living units to 11 so far this year.
At the end of August 2001, the city’s report shows that permits had been issued for the construction of 10 new residential units.
