The fee for influenza vaccinations by the Freeborn County Public Health Department will increase from $10 to $15, the county board decided Tuesday.

The purchase cost of the vaccine has increased to $9 per dose this year, and the current $10 fee has become insufficient to cover staff time and other related costs, according to Public Health Director Lois Ahern. The new fee will be effective Oct. 1.

The board also approved:

– The sale of $800,000 in ditch refunding bonds. The general-obligation bonds will provide funds to refund the payments on bonds issued in 1994 for Ditch 24. The 4.2 percent interest refinancing will reduce the payments by $55,049.

– Conditional-use permits for the construction and installation of two 120-foot wind turbines in Bancroft Township.

– Applications for the Juvenile Justice Title II Program grant in the amount of $29,500 and Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant in the amount of $11,453. The grants are for funding the Family Crisis Intervention and Diversion Program and a part of the county attorney’s salary.
