Gary Gene Anderson Sr., 60, Glenville

Graveside services for Gary Gene Anderson Sr., of Glenville, were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Greenwood Cemetery in Glenville. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Military honors will be accorded.

Gary died on Friday, Sept. 6, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was 60.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1941, in Blue Earth, the son of Leslie and Margaret (Askeland) Anderson. He attended Amos Junior High and East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. He served our country in the U.S. Navy. He married Joyce Cunningham on Oct. 16,1959, in Des Moines, Iowa.

He had worked for Mack Truck in Des Moines, was a partner in The Body Shop by Anderson Brothers in Des Moines, and later was employed at Dave Syverson Ford. He was a member of the Eagles and Elks Clubs, and the American Legion.

Gary was a passionate mechanic, and enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, and playing pool. He took much pride in his family and friends and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Joyce Rae Anderson; his mother, Margaret Magel Askeland; his children: Kimberly V. and her husband Jeff Eley, and Gary Gene Anderson Jr. and his wife Jackie; grandchildren: Greg Anderson, Kieth Anderson, Roselyn Anderson, Valerie Tews, Keri Sailor and Devon Eley; brothers: Ed Anderson, and Gerald Anderson; sisters: Sharlene Solland and Deb Aukes; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Anderson; brothers: Arlo Anderson and Bob Anderson; and grandparents: Henry and Bertha Askeland, and Hugh and Rosetta Anderson.
