William ‘Bill’ Hanson, 91, Albert Lea

Funeral services for William “Bill” Hanson, age 91, formerly of Freeborn, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the West Freeborn Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be in the West Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Bill died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

William “Bill” Hanson was born May 10, 1911, to John Peter and Caroline (Johnson) Hanson in Freeborn County. He attended rural schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. Bill was a confirmed member of West Freeborn Lutheran Church and on May 21, 1939, was united in marriage to Stella Erlandson at the church. The couple farmed in the Freeborn area until 1962 when they moved into Freeborn. Bill was then employed as a custodian for the Freeborn School District until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling and golfing.

Survivors include his children: Clark Hanson and his wife Lyla of Brookings, S.D., Antoinette Larson and her husband Lowell of Hartland, and Keith Hanson and his wife Blanca of Des Moines, Iowa; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Margadant of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law: Inga Thompson of Freeborn, and Laura Hugtveit of Pipestone; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stella; brothers: Helmer, Clarence, Ludvig, Peter, Art. Conrad, and Walter; and sister, Cora.
