Funeral services for Adeline E. Soost, age 84, of Wells, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. The Rev. Michael Mathews will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Rome in Wells from 4- p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Wells.

She died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.

Adeline was born Nov. 5,1917, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Tiesler) Soost in Burns Township, Anoka County, Minn.

Adeline was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Elk River, Minn. In 1926 the family moved to a farm in Walnut Lake Township. They lived there until 1949, when they moved to the south edge of Wells, where she, her sister and brothers, operated the Walnut Lake Hatchery for many years, hatching Hyline Chickens. Adeline was confirmed on March 20, 1932, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wells, by the Rev. William Ganschow. She later belonged to Christ The Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wells, for many years. She was the organist, Sunday School superintendent, and held various offices in the L.W.M.L. (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) there for a number of years. Adeline also was a exhibitor many times at the Minnesota State Fair, winning many grand championships and other placings there, especially with her bread. She has been a resident of St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea since July of 1992. Adeline enjoyed baking, fishing, playing the organ at church, and lately find-a-word puzzles, when she was able.

She is survived by three nephews, two nieces, seven great-nephews, 11 great-nieces, two great-great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers: Albert, George, Arthur, Walter, and Henry; and two sisters: Edna, and one in infancy.
