The Tigers led 2-0 for most of the game but were taken to overtime before beating the Rockets 3-2 Tuesday.

&uot;The girls really didn’t want to make the trip again,&uot; said ALHS coach Todd Lange. &uot;So they really wanted to win, and we were able to pull it off.&uot;

The Tigers struck quickly, scoring six minutes into the game when Laura Hillman took a pass from Amy Ravenhorst and snuck a shot behind the goalkeeper by the near post.

Hillman scored on a similar play two minutes later on an assist from Steph Overgaard.

The Tigers had several other good scoring chances while outshooting the Rockets 23-11, but it remained 2-0 until 10 minutes left in regulation when JM pulled within a goal.

A breakaway goal with 19 seconds left tied it and send it to overtime.

The Tigers won it in the second minute on a goal by Crystal Rentz, assisted by Hillman.

Liz Reynen was in goal for the Tigers.

Lange praised the play of forwards Rentz, Hillman, Amy Marka and Stacie Armstrong.

The Tigers improved their record to 6-2-3 in the Big Nine and 8-4-3 overall. They play Thursday at Austin.
