City building permits show slow pace

The total for building permit valuations issued by the City of Albert Lea are about half of last year’s amount, according to the latest report from the city’s Inspection Department.
The September report shows a valuation of $990,268 for building permits issued during the month
This increases the total reported for the first nine months of the year to $7,650,964.
At the end of September 2001, the report shows a valuation of $14,491,406 for building permits issued.
A permit with a valuation of $210,000 was issued during September to Streater, Inc., 411 S. First Ave., for a new roof project.
Rink Systems Inc., 1103 Hershey Ave., was issued a permit with a valuation of $115,000 for a 54 foot by 125 foot building addition.
A building permit for a &uot;new pizza kitchen in the southwest corner of store&uot; was issued to Food and Fuel, 201 E. Front St., This permit had a valuation of $55,000.
The Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office issued 24 building permits with an estimated valuation of $715,446. This increases the estimated total for building permits valuation to $6,428,659 for the first nine months of the year.
Building permits for three new homes, four home additions, and four garages and/or additions were issued during September, according to the county’s latest report.
