Dale Purdie, 76, New Richland

Memorial services for Dale M. Purdie of New Richland will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland. The Rev. Casey VanderBent will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Purdie died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002 at the New Richland Care Center in New Richland. He was 76 years of age.

Dale was born Sept. 16, 1926 in Wells, the son of Harry and Violet (Babcock) Purdie. He attended public school in Wells.

Dale served in the U.S. Army Calvary from January of 1945 until October of 1946.

On June 30, 1950, Dale was united in marriage to Margaret Krause at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Dale was employed for many years by the Wells Concrete Co. Redi Mix plant in New Richland, and later years with the E.F. Johnson Co. in Waseca. Dale was a member of the Congregational Church of New Richland, where he served as church custodian for many years. He was also a member of the Wells American Legion Club. In his free time, Dale enjoyed woodworking.

Dale is survived by one son, Eric Purdie of St. Peter; daughters Becky and her husband, Harold Kruse of Janesville and Penny Purdie of New Richland; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Marshall and his wife O’ciel Purdie of Wells; sisters Ethel Cutting of Fairmont, Bernice Baker of Albertsville, Minn., and Maxine Thorson of Wells; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret and two brothers Harold and Brownie.
