Ethel E. Stensrud, 90, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Ethel E. Stensrud will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21,

at the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ, Freeborn. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in the Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albeit Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Ethel died on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at Knutson Place, Albert Lea. She was 90 years old.

Ethel was born on the family farm in rural Alden on Jan. 10, 1912, the daughter of Herman and Emma (Theede) Wille. She was a graduate of Freeborn High School and a graduate of Naeve Hospital School of Nursing.

On April 21, 1935, Ethel was united in marriage with Richard L. Stensrud Sr. west of Alden on the Wille family farm. They were members of the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ where Ethel had been active as a circle member and had served as president of Woman’s Fellowship. They owned and operated Stensrud Hardware Store in Freeborn for many years. Ethel also worked as a private nurse in the Freeborn area. She had been a member of the Freeborn County chapter of the American Red Cross.

Ethel is survived by three sons: Richard Stensrud Jr. and his wife, Dr. Rosanna, of Kenosha, Wis., Allan Stensrud and his wife JoAnn of Freeborn, and Dr. Robert Stensrud and his wife Ann of Johnston, Iowa; six grandchildren: Kathryn Schott, Daren Stensrud and his wife Carol, Cari and her husband Kevin Stenzel, Tom Stensrud and his wife Jennifer, Lauren Stensrud and Benjamin Stensrud; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Beyer of Wells.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Richard, in 1999.
