Evelyn L. Skjonsberg, 94, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Evelyn L. Skjonsberg, age 94, of Albert Lea, who died at Albert Lea Medical Center on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the First Lutheran Chapel. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Evelyn L. Skjonsberg was born Dec. 12, 1907, to Bernt and Olena (Pederson) Skjonsberg in Albert Lea, where she has lived her entire life. In December 2001, she entered Good Samaritan Center. She was a baptized and confirmed member of First Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the church women and Bible study groups.

She graduated from Albert Lea High School and worked for many years at Interstate Power Company as a bookkeeper before retiring in March 1970. Evelyn was also an active member in Sons of Norway and Interstate Power’s Quarter Century Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking, flower gardening, and playing cards.

She is survived by a niece, Oriale Tukua; four great-nieces: Sharon and her husband Ladd Siegfried, Janelle Tukua, Ingri and her husband Ron Sparling, and Cheryl Seath; and two great-nephews: Larry and his wife Juanita Seath, and Steven and his wife Judi Seath.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Bernt and Olena Skjonsberg; four brothers: Selmer (in infancy), Wallace, Merlin (in infancy), and Edwin; three sisters: Florence (Mrs. Clarence) Seath, Myrtle (Mrs. Leo M.) Johnson, and Marion Skjonsberg; and two nephews: Everett Seath and Norman Tukua.
