Jeanette Pauline Lee, age 68, of Park Rapids, Minn., formerly of Albert Lea,
passed peacefully away at her home in Park Rapids surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, after a long battle with cancer.
Jeanette was born on July 27, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to John and Magdaline (Koert) Ellens. On Dec. 7,1950, she was united in marriage to David Lee in Omaha, Neb. This union was blessed with two daughters: Paulette and Kristine. Jeanette and her family made their home in Albert Lea from 1951 until 1989. Jeanette made a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She gained employment with the McDonalds Restaurant Company working in public relations in a career that spanned 18 years. Jeanette’s greatest joy was her family, so after her retirement in 1999, she and David moved to a home on the Crow Wing River near Nimrod, Minn., to be closer to family and watch her grandsons, Robert and Michael, grow up. They lived at their lake home for 12 years. They spent eight winters in the Rio Grande Valley in Donna, Texas, and made many special friends who offered love and support through her illness. Most recently she and David had moved to Park Rapids.
Jeanette loved nature and enjoyed doing anything that allowed her to be outdoors. She was an avid hunter and many days could be found on one of the many lakes near her home fishing for the big one. She loved her home on the river and liked to swim, canoe and tube whenever she had the chance.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David of Park Rapids; two daughters: Paulette (Brian) GoIdammer of Nevis, Minn., and Kristine (Paul) DeLano of Winona; two grandsons: Robert (Juanita) Pretzer of Bemidji, and Michael Pretzer of Hopkins; her brother, John Ellens of Albert Lea; a special aunt, Margaret Dewey of Grand Rapids, Mich.; as well as other relatives and man), special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
