John W. ‘Johnny’ Kingstrom, 83, Bricelyn

Funeral services for John W. &uot;Johnny&uot; Kingstrom, age 83, of Bricelyn, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church, Bricelyn. The Rev. Ed Nieman and the Rev. Pat Hinkie. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday., Oct. 14, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Township, Faribault County.
John passed away quietly in his sleep early Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at his home in rural Bricelyn after battling cancer for three years.
He was born Feb. 2,1919, in Eden Township, Winnebago County, Iowa, to Charles Jr. and Addie (Tressler) Kingstrom. He was baptized and confirmed In the Lutheran faith. He attended Eden Township Country School and graduated from Thompson High School in Thompson, Iowa.
He married Alpha Seltun on Sept. 30,1938, in Minnesota Lake. This union was blessed with six children.
John and Alpha lived their married life in Faribault County. John loved his family and was always happy to see them come to visit. He enjoyed visiting with friends. He was a collector of pens and pencils. He and Alpha liked to travel and visited many states. They spent 19 winters in McAllen, Texas, and made many friends there. He was a member of Bricelyn Lutheran Church.
In his passing, he leaves to mourn his wife of 64 years, Alpha Kingstrom of Bricelyn; two sons: Richard and wife Geraldine Kingstrom of Glenville, and
Charles and wife Lin Kingstrom of Winnebago; three daughters: Judith and husband Jack Montour of Fridley, Minn., Lois and husband George Beaving of Anoka, and. Donna and husband Arthur Lundgren of St. Paul; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law: Jerry and wife LoEtta Seltun of Bricelyn, and Dale and wife Mary Seltun of Rochester; one sister-in-law, Sharon Hunt of Finlayson, Minn.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant twin son; an infant grandson, Lowell; an Infant great-granddaughter, April; one brother, Sylvester; and one sister, Holly.
