Jack Petersen started helping out at St. John’s before even becoming a volunteer. His wife moved into St. John’s around two years ago and Petersen started helping out wherever he could.

&uot;I didn’t realize they needed this much help,&uot; Petersen said.

He helped the staff so much that the St. John’s volunteer coordinator approached Petersen about becoming a volunteer.

Petersen visits his wife every day and helps out around St. John’s whenever he can. He does anything that is needed, including transporting seniors to different parts of the building and assisting with the different activities that occur throughout the day.

Petersen credits the people he deals with, both staff and seniors, who make volunteering so rewarding for him.

&uot;I love to come out here and help,&uot; he said.
