94.9 FM switches over to classic rock format

Albert Lea now has two FM classic rock stations, Power 96 and 94.9, the Hawk (KCPI).
KCPI used to be a light rock station, playing pop hits from the ’80s, ’90s and today.
The new station plays a classic-rock selection.
Station manager Bill Lubke of KATE/KCPI did not return calls on the station change, but employees at the station have said the change was made to better aim for a broader age demographic.
The station made the switch in genre over the weekend.
The station is owned by Three Eagle Broadcasting.
