Aage L. Mickelsen, age 86, of Alden, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate.
Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Alden Cemetery in Alden.
Mickelsen was born June 16, 1916, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Jacob and Neilsina (Albertsen) Mickelsen.
Aage farmed outside of Ellendale for a few years. He moved to Alden in 1948. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. He was a mechanic at IH (International Implement) in Ellendale and Alden and at the Alden Co-op for a number of years. He worked at Helland’s Superette as a meat cutter. He was a school bus driver in Alden for Hemmingsen Transfer and also did maintenance at Alden Public School. He was a volunteer fireman. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood for 50 years. He was a member of the Alden Lions Club. He enjoyed bowling, visiting at family gatherings and being with his nieces and nephews and their families. He mowed many yards in Alden.
He is survived by two sisters, Erna Skov of New Richland and Agnes Pistulka of Foster City, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Einer and wife Ella Mickelsen; one sister Carrie and husband William Hanson; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.
