Dianne Blake, 51, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Dianne Blake of 1308 Spartan Ave., Albert Lea, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Paul Aldrich will officiate. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the family.

Dianne was born June 8, 1951 in Albert Lea to Arnold and Lorrie (Hahn) Fjermestad. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1969. Dianne married her high school sweetheart Gary Blake on Aug. 7, 1971 at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. They moved to San Diego, California in 1973 where Dianne began her nurse’s training. She also resided in San Francisco, Calif., and Woodland Park, Colo. In September of 1999 they moved back to Albert Lea. Dianne was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She worked as a nurse for Thorne Crest North of Albert Lea. Dianne gave piano lessons in Colorado and California. Dianne enjoyed playing the piano, singing, the ocean and its beaches, her pets, mountains, caring for people, camping, traveling, kayaking and sewing. She had a strong faith. Dianne especially loved her family. She was a great wife and mother and also was a wonderful and caring daughter.

Dianne is survived by her husband Gary Blake of Albert Lea; two children: Carrie Blake of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Matthew Blake of Albert Lea; mother Lorrie Fjermestad of Albert Lea; brothers: Brian Fjermestad and his wife Cindy of Albert Lea, Bradley Fjermestad and his wife Deb of Waseca, and Jeanne Schoonmaker and her husband Guy of Edwards, Colo.; father- and mother-in-law Harold and Rita Blake of Albert Lea; brothers-in-law Don Blake and his wife Mary of Albert Lea, and Tim Blake and his wife Brenda of Albert Lea; grandmother Nellie Johnson of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
