Irene Jones Lowman, 82, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Irene Lowman, age 82, of Albert Lea will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Bayview/Freebom Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Greg Ciesluk will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today, Dec. 1, at Bayview/Freebom Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Irene died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.

Irene Lowman was born Jan. 31, 1920, to Clarence and Mae (Jennings) Jones in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended school in Algona, Iowa. On March 11, 1938, Irene was united in marriage to Cecil Lowman at Fort Dodge, Iowa. The couple lived in Fairmont, Minn., and Alden before moving to Albert Lea in 1944 where they spent the rest of their lives. Irene was employed at Kroeger Egg Company and then as a nursing assistant at St. John’s and Good Samaritan. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing and spending time outdoors especially camping. Her family and friends and her dog, &uot;Girt&uot; were very important to her. Irene was a member of United Methodist Church.

Survivors include children: Larry Lowman, Richard Lowman and Joyce, Steven Lowman and Carol, and Julie Oyer and David, all of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Tammy, Mindy, Danny, Terry, Suzy, Dawn, Richard, William, Christopher and Melissa; step grandchildren: Jonathan, Brett, and Jennifer; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; and brother-in-law, Howard Lowman and sister-in-law, Marie Lowman.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mae Jones; her husband, Cecil; her sister, Pat Graiving; and four brothers-in-law.
