Mildred V. Nelson, 84, Austin

Mildred V. Nelson, age 84, of Austin, formerly of Oakland, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at the Austin Medical Center.

She was born March 22, 1918, in Albert Lea to George and Tillie (Prestegard) Farlinger. She attended rural school near Albert Lea. She married Clifford Nelson on May 5, 1937, in Northwood, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Oakland area for almost 50 years. She was a member of Oakland Lutheran Church. Mildred was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oakland Lutheran Church with the Rev. LaDonna Ekern officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary,

Austin, on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church one hour before the service.

Organist will be Kleone Wangen. Soloist will be Kiven Lukes. Casket bearers and honorary bearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be Sue Starrett, Jenny Nelson and Matt Nelson. Casket bearers will be

Nicole Johnson, Bridgette Johnson, Jim Nelson, Craig Nelson, Scott Nelson and Mike Nelson.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Milford and

Linda Nelson of Austin, Curtis and Narda Nelson of Fosston, Minn., and Lowell and Dawn Nelson of Oakland; daughter and son-in-law, LaVonne and Lowell Johnson of Albert Lea; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Alta Farlinger of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Alta Joynes of Austin; and nieces and

nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford, in 1986; brothers: John (Jack) Farlinger and Norman Farlinger; sister, Gladys Schlie; grandson, Benjamin Nelson; and granddaughter, Jackie Nelson.
