When Theresa Jackson retired from being a nurse, she knew it was finally time to do the things she had be wanting to do for years.

Jackson started volunteering at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea.

The mother of four helps out in the school once a week, helping teachers with whatever needs to be done; visits Catholic patients in the hospital; visits shut-ins to bring communion and says the rosary with them; and does just about anything else that needs to be done around the church.

“If I see something that needs to be done, I volunteer to do it,” she said.

Jackson believes that she has been blessed with the ability to help people out in their time of need.

“I think it is my duty to help those people,” she said. “I’m just so blessed that I can do that.”

Jackson volunteers five days a week around the community, but most of her time is spent at the church. Her favorite activity is singing in two of the church’s choirs.
