Valborg Venem, 81, Fosston, Minn.

Valborg Venem, age 81, of Fosston, Minn., passed away Thursday, Nov. 14 at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston. Interment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston, and Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of arrangements.

Valborg Lucille Moen was born Dec. 10, 1920 to parents Ingvald and Anna Bolethe (Olson) Moen in Albert Lea, where she grew up and attended school.

She was united in marriage to Truman Venem on Jan. 2, 1944 at Lunder Lutheran Church in Twin Lakes. They lived in Albert Lea until 1950, when they moved to Fosston, and bought a farm. Valborg worked at Anderson’s Cafe and HLH Potato Plant in Fosston and was a homemaker.

Valborg was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston and her special interests were going to bingo and playing cards with her friends.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 Valborg Venem passed away at First Care Nursing Home in Fosston at the age of 81 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Jaeger and her special friend Bud Holweger of Waubun, Minn.; sons, Richard and his wife Marilyn of Fosston and David and his wife Patty of Rocky Ford, Colo.; daughters-in-law, Darlene Venem of Wenatchee, Wash., and Sherry Venem of McIntosh, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Truman in 1993; sons, Larry Venem and Terry Venem; brothers, George, JeRoy, Herbert, Chester, Orvin, Bert, Cyrus, Arnold and Myron; and sisters, Olga Moen, Valborg Lillian Moen, Alma Oakland and Luella Hatleli.
