An Albert Lea woman sought by city police for embezzling from Olson Manufacturing was arrested in Denver Sunday, Assistant Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said.

Law enforcement authorities in the Colorado city arrested Rose Marie Modderman, 34, executing an arrest warrant for felony theft issued by the district court.

According to the investigation, Modderman used the company’s business checks to embezzle $80,194. She is also suspected of drawing other checks totaling $15,650 to withdraw cash from the company’s account, and making out $24,143 worth of business checks to friends and creditors.

Modderman was an accounting manager at Olson Manufacturing. The alleged crime was conducted between November 2000 and May 2001 when her employer, Dave Olson, took a personal leave from the company.

On May 27 last year, a colleague found a note on Modderman’s office desk saying that she was sorry. Mondderman disappeared from Albert Lea, and the police have been looking for her since.

Winkels said Modderman was living and working in Denver without disguising her real name. She will be extradited to the county within a couple of weeks.
