Eva T. Hill, 97, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Eva T. Hill will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Eva died on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at St. John’s Lutheran Home where she had lived for the past five years. She was 97 years old.

Eva was born in Lamberton, Minn., on Dec. 28, 1904, the daughter of Percy and Mathilda (Berg) Skelton.

On Jan. 21, 1922, Eva was united in marriage with Clifford Hill in Redwood Falls. They were members of Salem Lutheran Church where Eva was a member of Ladies of the Church, Salem Circle, and Seniors of Salem. She was involved with volunteer work and was a member of the American Red Cross. She spent many hours visiting nursing homes and shut-ins. She enjoyed doing crafts and sewing. She made baby blankets and donated them to day care centers and mission circles.

Eva is survived by three sons: Vance (Dorothy) Hill of Albert Lea, Myron (Arlene) Hill of St. Paul, and Robert Hill of Leesburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lynne Dempsey of Rice Lake, Wis., and Helen Carlson of Kansas; one brother, Darold Skelton of Brookfield, Wis.; son-in-law, Robert Hartmann of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford, in 1973; one daughter, Marian Hartmann; three brothers: Lester, Orland and Donald Skelton; and three sisters: Bernice Biebel, Sybil Morris, and Gladys Schultz.
