GLENVILLE &045; Since height is not a strength for the Glenville-Emmons girls’ basketball team, you had to wonder how the Wolverines would handle the Houston Hurricanes and their 6-foot-1 center.
They handled them handily.
Houston’s big girl managed only seven points before fouling out and the Wolverines won 51-29 in a Southeast Conference game at Glenville Friday night.
&uot;The girls worked well together as a team tonight,&uot; said coach Lisa Ziebell. We came out very hot in the first quarter and we played good, tough defense.&uot;
The Wolverines led 15-6, 28-17 and 41-23 at the breaks.
Lauren Bremer, Jenna Brackey and Alisa Rayman scored 10 points apiece. Katie Brackey scored nine, Sara Greibrok seven, Sara Stadheim three, Ellen Hansen two. Rayman and Katie Brackey each grabbed nine rebounds.
The Wolverines improved to 2-0 in the conference and 2-3 overall. They travel to conference favorite Spring Grove on Thursday.
