Harry Lindorff, 88, Wells

Funeral services for Harry Lindorff, age 88, of Wells, will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Rev. Paul Baker will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6; and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery, Alden

He died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at the Albert Lea Medical Center after suffering congestive heart failure.

He was born June 7, 1914, in Big Lake, Minn., to William and Agnes (Petersen) Lindorff. He married Kathryn Justesen on Oct. 5,1938, in Northwood, Iowa.

When Harry was four years old he and his family moved from Big Lake, Minn., where he was born, to Duluth. After living there for three years, the family moved to the Alden area, where Agnes and William had originally lived. In 1928 the family purchased the farm known as Baroda, and Harry lived there until the last year of his life, at which time he moved to The Shepherds Inn in Wells. In addition to farming, Harry was a member of the Wells School Board, serving as chair for several years. He was also a member of the church council of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, and earlier served as chair of the church council at the First Lutheran Church in Alden. Upon retirement in 1979, he became a woodworker and crafter during his days, and spent many evening hours at the dining room table with Kathryn, engaged in latch-hook and needlepoint. For several years he and Kathryn served as regular helpers for Baroda Auction Realty. Throughout all his endeavors, he told stories. He was always an active man, known for his ability to reason and laugh, Harry will be remembered with love by the family and many friends. His several grandchildren will miss him a great deal.

He is survived by one son, Neil and his wife Andrea Lindorff of Sheyenne, N.D.; three daughters: Karen and her husband Duane Bergemann of Ozark, Mo.,Shirley and her husband Bill Pickett of Maplewood, Minn., and June and her husband Tom Hansen of Charlottesville, N.H.; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Kathryn, in 1998.
