Mary Jane Wesely, 81, Owatonna

Mary Jane Wesely, long time resident of Owatonna, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, after a lengthy battle with cancer at her home. She was 81.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at the Bohemian National Cemetery, Owatonna. Friends may call at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home, 1603 Austin Road, Owatonna, today from 4-8 p.m. There will be a 4 p.m. parish rosary at the funeral home today. The visitation continues on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Mary Jane was born Dec. 15, 1921, to Fred and Margaret (Pichner) Wavrin in rural Owatonna. She attended high school in Owatonna. She married Jerome A. Wesely on May 9, 1946, at Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna. Together the couple raised four children. Mary Jane was a homemaker for most of her life. Some of the various jobs she had through out her life were working for Mary Grass Boarding House, Spurgeons, Woolworth’s, Phiels Department Store, and the American Agriculture Administration in Owatonna. She was a member of Women’s Catholic Guild, Faribault Eagles, Telephone Pioneers, past member of the American Legion and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies include rose gardening, caring for her houseplants and flowers, traveling and sight seeing, and cooking Bohemian dishes and sharing with family and friends. She also enjoyed animals, listening to old time and big band music, and dancing. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family, grand children and great-grandchildren.
Mary Jane is survived by husband, Jerry; two sons: Charles and (Eunice) Wesely, and Allan and (Nancy) Wesely, both of Austin; two daughters: Patricia and (Kenneth) Thiele of Mankato, and Elaine Wesely of Albert Lea; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Donald and Christine Wavrin, and Lowell and Marie Wavrin, both of Owatonna; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
