The Albert Lea school district board approved their 2003 levy at a special meeting on Wednesday morning.

The levy, which is $4,807,274.76, is a 41.3 percent increase in property taxes over last year, most of which is a result of the excess levy approved by voters this fall.

Mark Stotts, director of Finance and Operations, said that without the voter-approved referendum, the increase would be about 3.5 percent.
