Arlan C. Brackey, 77, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Arlan C. Brackey, age 77, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the area servicemen’s organizations. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today

at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home with a 6 p.m. prayer service, and further visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arlan died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at his home.

Arlan Carlyle Brackey was born Sept. 16, 1925, to Alfred and Mabel (Leegaard) Brackey in Lake Mills, Iowa, and was baptized Oct. 12, 1925, at the Lake Mills Evangelical Lutheran Church. He attended schools in Lake Mills. Arlan served in the United States Army during World War II from 1945-1947.

On Jan. 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Irene Wendell in Glenville. The couple moved to Albert Lea in 1947, Arlan was employed as a meat cutter at Wilson & Company and Farmland Foods. In 1960, he joined the Church of St. Theodore where he had been an usher and a trustee. Arlan was also a member of the Elks and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time at the golf course.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; children: Cheryl and her husband Bernie Hagen of Hartland, Karen Engelstad of Thief River Falls, Ronald and his wife Kim Brackey of Winona, Wayne Brackey of Albert Lea, Kathie and her husband Ken Hulbert of Owatonna, David Brackey of Albert Lea, and Mary Brackey of St. Paul; grandchildren: Shannon Anderson, Kelly Beaudry, Dustin Anderson, Mark Hagen, Jamie Green, Jessica Brackey, Heather Brackey, Alison Brackey, Beau Brackey, and Ethan Brackey; great-granddaughter, Hope Beaudry; and brothers: Clair and his wife Phyllis Brackey of Lake Mills, and Vernon Brackey, also of Lake Mills.

Arlan was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mabel Brackey; and brothers: Judean, Johnny, Marvin, Adler, Burnell and Norris.
